About the Role:

The Synapse team at Zeta builds modern digital banking experiences for banks and credit unions, leveraging Zeta’s Tachyon platform. As an AI Engineer II, you will lead a team of AI engineers focused on creating sophisticated agent-based AI applications. These applications involve multiple AI agents working in coordinated frameworks to execute complex business tasks for banking institutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop agentic AI applications for digital banking.
• Architect and oversee AI agent swarms collaborating to solve complex banking problems.
• Apply expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Smaller Language Models (SLMs) for building robust AI agents.
• Implement enterprise AI techniques, including grounding, guard railing, and banking-grade security measures.
• Identify and integrate existing AI models while exploring opportunities for custom model development.
• Foster a culture of innovation, staying current with the latest AI trends and technologies.
• Lead development of AI-driven applications, focusing on interconnected AI agents rather than standalone services.
• Drive strategic investments in custom AI models where business cases demand specialized solutions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience focused on building and maintaining conversational AI flows.
• Demonstrated passion for developing AI-based applications.
• Proven experience contributing significantly to AI applications or solutions.
• Deep understanding of LLMs, SLMs, and effective prompting strategies.
• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks and multi-agent coordination.
• Expertise in enterprise-grade AI techniques, including security practices suitable for financial institutions.
• Background in financial services or fintech, particularly banking applications, is a plus.
• Ability to lead R&D efforts for small-scale, purpose-built AI models.
